(VOVWORLD) - Cai luong, or reformed opera, is the youngest of Vietnam’s traditional theatrical art forms. In recent years, cai luong and other traditional art forms have barely reached the vast majority of people. Dr. Dao Le Na, a lecturer from the Ho Chi Minh City University of Social Sciences and Humanities, has worked with a group of young people to find a breakthrough for cai luong.

(VOVWORLD) - A Quan Ho singing class run by artisans Hoang Thi Trong and Dao Thi Thuy opens every Saturday at the communal house of Dai Thuong hamlet, Bac Ninh province, attracting many participants, especially children. The special class without a podium, a blackboard, or chalk, is filled with the beautiful sounds of Quan Ho folk singing.

(VOVWORLD) - The northern mountainous province of Cao Bang is the source of hundreds of folk songs from Tay, Nung, Mong, and Dao ethnic people which embrace great cultural and historical values. Cao Bang’s Folk Music Preservation Association has made a great effort to preserve and promote those folk songs in contemporary life.

(VOVWORLD) - “Outline on Vietnamese Culture” was the theme of a recent film week to celebrate the 80th anniversary of this important document. The event introduced 10 films about culture, President Ho Chi Minh, and Vietnam, its land and people.

(VOVWORLD) - Xoe dance is a pride of Thai ethnic people in the northwestern region of Vietnam. The art of Xoe dance was recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2021. Now, together with old artisans, young people have joined the effort to preserve and promote Xoe dance.

Over the years, the cultural sector has taken flexible and synchronous measures to preserve and promote Vietnam’s traditional art forms in contemporary life.
