(VOVWORLD) - Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha has approved the submission of a dossier to seek UNESCO recognition for “the art of Cheo” as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

(VOVWORLD) - The 2nd Then singing and Tinh musical instrument festival has taken place in Buon Ma Thuot city, attracting 14 teams from Dak Nong, Lam Dong, and Dak Lak province. The festival has further promoted this art form, which has become more and more popular in the Central Highlands.

(VOVWORLD) - Duy Tan middle school in Kinh Mon Town, in the Red River Delta of Hai Duong has taken a number of initiatives to encourage its students to learn and preserve Cheo (Vietnamese traditional opera). The school has set up an “I Love Folk Songs” club that now boasts 50members. The club is a place where students can learn and practice performing Cheo songs.

(VOVWORLD) - Folk songs of different regions and ethnic groups have been taught at many schools in the northern mountain province of Dien Bien. Through the lessons, the students learn about their unique traditions and culture and the need to preserve and promote those values.

(VOVWORLD) - In the Mekong Delta province of An Giang, the Hoa people, or Vietnamese of Chinese origin, live mainly in Chau Doc, Long Xuyen, and Tan Chau town. As an ethnic minority belonging to the Sino-Tibetan language group, the Hoa here still preserve many unique cultural features, enriching the ethnic culture of Vietnam’s southwestern region.

(VOVWORLD)-The Mong ethnic people in the northern mountainous province of Ha Giang gracefully cherish their rich cultural values, including a traditional call-and-response singing. The melodies are often heard during the Lunar New Year or during festivals on this distant karst plateau.

(VOVWORLD)-Bac Ninh's Quan Ho folk songs were inscribed on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2009. These days Quan Ho folk songs are being performed at the Lim Festival, a popular spring festival in northern Vietnam. In recent years Bac Ninh province has worked creatively to preserve and promote this cultural heritage.
