(VOVWORLD) - Don Ca Tai Tu (amateur music) from southern Vietnam was officially recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2013. The Mekong Delta province of Dong Thap has made its greatest effort to preserve and promote this music genre as a tourism product.

(VOVWORLD) - The UNESCO-recognized “Space of Gong Culture” of the Central Highlands is facing a risk of falling into oblivion. In a remote village in Lam Dong province, patriarch K’Tieu is making his best efforts to teach younger generations to play the gong as a way to preserve this intangible heritage.

This is the first time that watercolor artists from Ho Chi Minh city have held a joint exhibition at this iconic site in the capital city.

(VOVWORLD) - An operetta for children called “The sound of the grassland” has been adapted from the book of the same name. The show, co-organized by the FFC Training and Art Center, the Cremusic Music Education program, and Ms. Luna English Center, is a fairy tale for children.

(VOVWORLD) - The Tay and Nung ethnic people in Cao Bang province have a custom of hanging a banner to celebrate the longevity of their grandparents and parents. The colors and messages of the banners correspond to different ages. This custom reflects the respect and filial piety felt by Nung and Tay people for their elders.

(VOVWORLD) -In December, 2017, UNESCO inscribed Xoan singing, a Vietnamese folk music genre in Phu Tho province, on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Earlier, Xoan singing was inscribed on the Urgent Safeguarding List in 2011 due to declining appreciation of this tradition, notably among young people. UNESCO said efforts by local communities and the national authorities have reinforced the viability of Xoan singing.

(VOVWORLD) - Various activities took place in the Central Highland province of Dak Lak for Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day held annually on April 21. The event aims to trigger children’s love for books and develop their reading habits.

(VOVWORLD) - The central province of Binh Dinh is home to numerous cultural heritages of the Cham ethnic minority, including Cham towers. Cham towers and their ruins with historical and architectural value are a unique tourist attraction in the area.
