At the first meeting of the Joint Working Group on May 7 and May 8, the two sides signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the establishment of a Joint Working Group, a training program for Vietnamese hydrographic officers in India, and deployment of joint survey ships.
On May 7, Rear Admiral Phan Tuan Hung, Deputy Commander of the Navy received Vice Admiral Lochan Singh Pathania, Director of the Indian National Hydrographic Agency. At the meeting, Rear Admiral Phan Tuan Hung said that recently, the Vietnamese Navy welcomed Indian Navy ships to visit ports in Vietnam. Likewise Vietnamese Navy ships were welcomed to participate in events organized by the Indian Navy.
