“Many countries, especially those affected by Iran’s attempted closure of the Hormuz Strait, will be sending warships, in conjunction with the United States of America, to keep the Strait open and safe,” Trump wrote in his latest post on Truth Social.
He said he hopes China, France, Japan, South Korea and the United Kingdom would also send naval vessels.
Tensions in the Strait of Hormuz have risen sharply in recent weeks after Iran warned it could block the strategic shipping route. Several attacks on commercial vessels have been reported in the region since the conflict began. At least 14 ships have been attacked or damaged in the Gulf and in waters near the Strait of Hormuz.
