(VOVWORLD) - One of the poorest districts in the border province of Lai Chau, Phong Tho has 28 communes and towns of which 13 are border communes and the rest are extremely poor. 97% of Phong Tho’s people are ethnic minority. In recent years, thanks to the support of local governments and social organizations, Phong Tho has invested in household business to escape poverty.

(VOVWORLD) - The city of Hue is famous for its ancient architectural heritages, its culture, and its people’s good conduct. On the outskirts of Hue, there are farm villages where the village women never have to work in the fields. All the farm work is done by men. The village is fondly called the “village of wife lovers”.

A Ba Na girl in a remote village in Gia Lai province has changed traditional farming by undertaking a project to grow medicinal herbs using advanced technology. Taking advantage of available resources, changing ways of thinking and doing, and applying technical advances are helping the locals develop their economy.

(VOVWORLD) - Village wells, together with banyan trees, communal houses, and river wharves, are symbols of Vietnam’s northern villages. A village well not only provides water for the villagers’ daily use but is also a link of heaven and earth. Although many Vietnamese villages now have water piped into every home, the village well is still being used in many localities.

(VOVWORLD) - The worship of progenitors, a fundamental tradition of Vietnamese craft villages, expresses villagers’ gratitude for those who created jobs for locals. Through the worship, villagers hope to further develop the craft and have a prosperous and happy life. Every year, death anniversaries of village founders are held.

(VOVWORLD) - Lunar New Year is one of the biggest festivals of the year for Muong Vang ethnic people in Lac Son district, Hoa Binh province. On the first days of the year, Muong Vang people conduct traditional ancestor worship rituals.
