‘A better Hanoi’ for the poor

‘A better Hanoi’ for the poor

(VOVworld) – Every Wednesday and Saturday, members of ‘A better Hanoi’ project gather at a number of restaurants in the city to collect the food not used in local restaurants and hotels, package them, and deliver them to needy people. For these young people, the weekend is not time for relaxing after hard days at university or college, but for the project.

They have instructed children making traditional Vietnamese paper masks as a way to preserve and promote the cultural value of paper masks.

Vietnamese doctors provide free eye surgery for poor Lao patients

(VOVworld) – A program was conducted from August 24 to August 28 to provide free eye examinations, treatment, and surgery for poor people and war veterans in Laos’ capital Vientiane. The program, which is held every 2 years over the past 8 years, was organized by the War Veterans’ Associations of Vientiane and Vietnam’s HCM city, the HCM city Eye Hospital, and Vietinbank.

The Tale of Kieu adapted to Cheo popular theater

(VOVworld) – “The tale of Kieu” by famous Vietnamese poet Nguyen Du has been adapted to several genres including Cheo popular theater and Tuong classical opera. A memorable scene featuring a jealous lady from “The tale of Kieu” has been adapted for a Cheo performance in Chuong village, Tan Phong district, Hai Duong province as part of activities to honor Nguyen Du on his 250th birthday.
