(VOVWORLD) - Co-organized by the Vietnam Mediation Center (VMC) and the Faculty of International Commercial Law (Hanoi Law University), the International Commercial Mediation Competition 2022 (ICMC-2022) is the first ever of its kind to be held in Vietnam. Opened to all undergraduate students at universities, academies and training institutions in Vietnam, this contest which was held from May to September aimed to promote mediation as an alternative for resolving commercial disputes. The final round was held on September 30 at Hanoi Law University.

(VOVWORLD) - In 2020, worried that her Giay ethnic culture was slowly disappearing, Vu Thi Ngoc Huong – a young Giay woman who lives in the resort town of Sapa – set up a YouTube channel called "Huong Giay Sa Pa". Using a smartphone, every day the 27-year-old tour guide conducts virtual tours of Sapa. Huong's wish is give everyone an entertaining look at her hometown.

(VOVWORLD) - Fascinated by Vietnamese brocade material and ceramics, Australian designer Cynthia Mann has built a fashion brand named Future Traditions in Hanoi. Cynthia’s growing endearment for Vietnam’s cultural traditions, history, and community has kept the designer here for 14 years.

Our goal is to provide students in remote areas with computers to study online.” That is the motto shared by the Brown Bear Computers group, a charity group created and run by teenagers. For many children in the highlands, life is still lacking, so access to computers is extremely difficult.

The Hanoi Youth Union and the Blacasa Education Organization have mobilized volunteers from pedagogical universities to provide free summer classes for Hanoi’s 9th graders to help them catch up with their classmates and prepare for the high school entrance exam.

(VOVWORLD) - “Mangrove Xuan Thuy” is a fundraising project for mangrove conservation in Xuan Thuy National Park in Nam Dinh province. Initiated by 15 Vietnamese students living in Hanoi and New Zealand, “Mangrove Xuan Thuy” was one of several environmental-friendly projects introduced at a ceremony in Hanoi to kick off this year’s Action Month for the Environment. To find out more about the project, I talked to Pham Ngo Hoang Lan Elizabeth, a Vietnamese-New Zealander at Macleans College in New Zealand, who was one of the project’s founders.

Despite its painstaking making process and high cost, this unique genre has stood the test of time thanks to generations of devoted artists. Today’s edition of That’s Life features Nguyen Minh Phuong, a 30-year-old artist based in Hanoi who wants to master the art of lacquer painting to keep it alive.
