(VOVWORLD) - Late last month, thousands of fishermen in Ba Ria-Vung Tau province registered their fishing vessels, something they have almost ignored as their boats are small and they fish near shore. The registration numbers as a "birth certificate" for coracles and small bamboo ferryboats has helped local fishermen and their vehicles more easily enter and exit fishing ports, and made it easier to find the owner when a boat encounters a problem at sea.

(VOVWORLD) - As of January 24, 5,000 houses have been completed and handed over to poor households in Dien Bien under a housing project for the disadvantaged in the northern mountain province known as Project 09. The project was launched last April by the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory. This is the largest-ever housing program for the poor in the locality.

(VOVWORLD) - In recent years, the northern mountain province of Ha Giang has focused on developing tourism, especially in the four districts of the Dong Van Karst Plateau: Quan Ba, Yen Minh, Meo Vac, and Dong Van. The homestay model has helped local ethnic groups develop and preserve their unique cultural values.

(VOVWORLD) - Quan Ba district in the northern mountain province of Ha Giang is one of the localities where ActionAid International in Vietnam has implemented a community-based disaster prevention program since 2007. Through the program, the local community has taken the initiative in planning to respond to and prevent natural disasters.

(VOVWORLD) - Lang Son province has successfully brought preferential capital to the poor and policy beneficiaries which has helped them escape poverty. As a result, the local socio-economy has grown steadily.

(VOVWORLD) - Hanoi Police Detention Center No.1 in Nam Tu Liem district and Detention Center No.2 in Thuong Tin district are detaining about 6,000 convicts. Here the convicts’ legitimate rights, obligations, and interests are guaranteed in accordance with the Constitution and the law.
