(VOVworld) – Last Monday, Vietnam and 11 other countries completed TPP negotiations. Making full use of the deal’s opportunities and anticipating and minimizing accompanying risks will be keys for Vietnam’s economy to thrive and its businesses to catch up with global development.

(VOVworld) – On September 8th Vietnam officially implemented its national single-window customs system and technically integrated it with a similar system used by other ASEAN members. The system creates favorable conditions for international trade and transportation in preparation for the ASEAN Economic Community which will be established by the end of this year.

Established 20 years ago, the Vietnam Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP) has been a successful joint venture model. At a groundbreaking ceremony for a VSIP project in Nghe An province on September 16th, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung praised the flagship role of the VSIP model in the bilateral cooperation ties, profiting their enterprises, cementing their strategic partnership, and connecting the two economies.

(VOVworld) – Vietnam is about to sign some important trade deals including the Trans Pacific Partnership, the EU-Vietnam Trade Agreement, the Vietnam-Korea Free Trade Agreement, and has already signed an economic agreement with the Eurasian Economic Union. (VOVworld) – Trade relations between Vietnam and the Czech Republic have been enhanced since 2012 when Vietnam was listed as one of 12 priority markets in Czech’s national export strategy until 2020. Businesses of both nations have increased cooperation in trade and investment, particularly in exports of garments, textiles, and footwear.

(VOVworld) – A program connecting banks and businesses was launched in Ho Chi Minh City 3 years ago to provide low interest loans to enterprises. It has enabled local businesses to maintain stable production and business growth. The State Bank of Vietnam intends to duplicate the program nationwide.

(VOVworld) – Vietnam has witnessed dynamic mergers and acquisitions in both domestic and foreign firms of all sizes. The rapid growth comes from opportunities created by trade agreements with other countries and Vietnam’s new policies to increase foreign ownership in Vietnamese enterprises and allow foreigners to buy houses in Vietnam.

(VOVworld) – By the end of this year, the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) is scheduled to take shape under which the tariffs of many items will be removed or slashed to 5%. In less than 3 years, 97% of goods imported from ASEAN members will be exempted from duty. This will create both opportunities and challenges for Vietnamese businesses.
