(VOVworld) – The Gie Trieng have a population of 33,000 people living mainly in the northern part of the Central Highlands. About two thirds of them cluster in Nam Giang district, Quang Nam province. The Gie Trieng have developed diverse folk music genres and musical instruments. The Dinh Tut is a typical flute played at Gie Trieng festivals.

(VOVworld) – The Gie Trieng, one of 6 tribes in Kon Tum province, has about 33,000 people. They live in Dak Glei and Ngoc Hoi district along the Ho Chi Minh trail near the border with Laos. Like other ethnic groups in Vietnam, the Gie Trieng have a distinct culture and have contributed to national construction.

(VOVworld) – The H’re love singing. They sing anywhere and anytime: at work, in leisure time, and at festivals. They have developed unique and diverse singing genres, typically Kaleu and Kachoi.

(VOVworld) – The H’re grow wet rice and other crops on terraced fields. Their religious practices are associated with rice. The H’re believe all things are administered by genies and they pray to the genies for peace, protection, bumper crops, and chasing away bad luck and diseases.

(VOVworld)-H’re ethnic people have long been living in the southern part of the Truong Son Mountain Range. The H’re are united, which can be seen in the way they help each other in production and festive activities. The connectivity among H’re families and between an individual and the hamlet is based on kinship or neighborhood.

(VOVworld) – Tom call-and-response singing is the most popular folk singing genre of the Kho Mu.

(VOVworld) – The Kho Mu practice many rituals and ceremonies each year: worship of the hamlet’s genie and ancestors and festivals to welcome new crops and the Rice Mother. The worship of ancestors and the festivals to welcome new crops typify the beliefs of the Kho Mu.
