Since 2024, there have been no cases of local fishing vessels engaging in illegal fishing in foreign waters, or violating IUU fishing regulations.

"In addition to disseminating information at the border guard station, we have promoted communication through the loudspeaker system and worked with relevant agencies to enhance local fishermen’s awareness of and compliance with IUU fishing regulations,” said Major Nguyen Thanh Phong, Chief of Trung Binh Border Guard Station in Soc Trang province.

Soc Trang province has 842 registered fishing vessels, with all boats 15 meters or longer equipped with vessel monitoring systems. Following four inspection visits by the EC, Soc Trang has been recognized as one of the best performers in managing offshore fishing fleet.
