At a cabinet meeting on Tuesday to discuss the impact of the Middle East tensions, PM Takaichi reaffirmed the commitment to maintaining uninterrupted business operations for Japanese companies across Asia.

She said: "So far, there have been no disruptions to the supply of medical-related products such as equipment, gloves, and protective clothing. Japan will continue to promote comprehensive cooperation mechanisms to support Asian countries in securing essential goods.

The Japanese government has also established a special task force comprising senior officials from relevant ministries to ensure stable domestic supplies of essential goods. Japan has released approximately 80 million barrels from its national strategic petroleum reserves to stabilize the domestic energy market amid disruptions to shipping routes through the Strait of Hormuz.
