In the energy sector, the rapid development of new technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), big data, the Internet of Things (IoT), cloud computing, and robotic process automation (RPA) is opening up opportunities to comprehensively restructure the energy value chain, from exploration and production to processing, distribution, and consumption.
According to Petrovietnam Chairman Le Manh Hung, digital transformation is not merely a trend but a vital requirement for energy enterprises in the new era. It is the key to optimizing operations and enhancing efficiency as well as comprehensive governance capacity.
Therefore, for Petrovietnam, digital transformation goes beyond modernizing working tools or optimizing internal processes. It also aims to foster a “digital culture” in which data becomes an asset, technology becomes a competitive capability, and innovation becomes the Group’s identity.
At the same time, digital transformation must be implemented comprehensively across all affiliates, with the goal of turning Petrovietnam into a smart industrial-energy group and a pioneer in sustainable development.

Petrovietnam has actively cooperated with domestic technology corporations such as Viettel, VNPT, and FPT, as well as international partners, to implement digital initiatives. At the same time, the Group has focused on training and updating digital transformation knowledge for leaders and all employees through digital platforms, while developing and issuing curricula on digital transformation and digital culture.
From 2026 onward, Petrovietnam aims for 100% of its units to complete digital transformation and operate their production and business activities on digital technology platforms, fully establishing a digital ecosystem across the entire Group, particularly in the energy sector.
In early May 2024, Petrovietnam officially put into operation Phase 1 of its Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, which has contributed to enhancing the Group’s governance and management capacity and optimizing financial management. This is also a core, flagship digital initiative, playing a crucial role and marking a significant milestone in Petrovietnam’s digital transformation roadmap, while laying the groundwork for the deployment of subsequent digital initiatives.
Petrovietnam’s member units have also been actively implementing and accelerating digital transformation to optimize production and business operations, improve customer experience, and strengthen competitiveness. The positive results of digital transformation have helped enterprises enhance governance efficiency, reduce operating costs, and deliver tangible economic benefits.

With the motto “say less, think more, do more, act fast, achieve high efficiency, ”the Group and its member units have proactively developed, updated, and refined digital transformation strategies closely aligned with their production and business development strategies.
This process is linked to organizational restructuring, innovation in governance and management models, and the transformation of traditional operations into a digital environment, aiming for lean, efficient, and transparent operations.
At present, projects to build specialized databases are being promoted with a strong sense of urgency while information technology infrastructure and cybersecurity systems are being developed in a synchronized manner and continuously improved, creating a solid foundation for the comprehensive digital transformation of Petrovietnam.
