Dr. Nguyen Thuy Anh, an education expert, founded the “Reading with children” club on June 6, 2010, to help children pick up and maintain a reading habit through interactive reading and storytelling and promote a family reading culture.
She said: "We guide children through independent reading, self-studying, and how to connect with their parents. After 15 years, we now have several small reading communities, where family members are bound together by books and children can gain valuable life experience."
The club also teaches children creative writing skills, effective uses of language, and how to structure their writings. Teachers write plays for the children to take part in, guide them through the stories, help them memorize characters, and quiz them on the story developments. This approach helps children absorb the writings more easily and motivate their imagination.

"At the club, I got to read stories like Adventures of a Cricket or The Story Of A Seagull And The Cat Who Taught Her To Fly," a club member said.
"I’ve had a lot of fun in my three years at the club. I read books, made new friends, and learned a lot about literature," his friend added.

After 15 years, the “Reading with children” club has established itself as an effective reading community, where children can enjoy and engage with books and stories. The club has strengthened the bond between parents and their children, fostered a reading culture, and inspired many children to become writers.
