This year’s theme was: “Imagine you are the ocean. Write a letter to someone explaining why and how they should care for and protect you.” Minh Khue wrote a letter to director James Cameron, imagining herself as the ocean calling for a film to awaken the world before it is too late. Through this, Khue expressed the young generation’s responsibility to protect the ocean by spreading awareness and encouraging small but meaningful actions.

This year’s competition received over 1.6 million entries from 65 countries. A female student from Turkey won First Prize, while Burkina Faso took Third Prize. This marks the 19th time a Vietnamese student has won an international prize at the UPU Letter-Writing Competition in 37 years. So far, Vietnam has earned 2 first prizes, 2 second prizes, 8 third prizes, and 6 consolation prizes.
