According to Malaysia’s national news agency Bernama, the election was held as Vietnam continues to promote its socio-economic development objectives and refine its policies for a new development phase.
It called the election an opportunity for 79 million voters to exercise their voting rights and responsibility by selecting outstanding and deserving representatives who will convey their will and aspirations to the National Assembly and People’s Councils in the new tenure, and a concrete step in implementing the 14th National Party Congress Resolution.
Japan’s Nikkei Asia said the election gave citizens an opportunity to choose representatives who reflect their voices and interests. It noted that strong voter participation enhances representation, strengthens social consensus, and supports socio-economic development policies aimed at improving growth and living standards.
On the television channel Al Jazeera, images of red banners and red flags with yellow stars lining the streets of Hanoi revealed the atmosphere of what has been described as a “national festival”. The channel quoted several voters who expressed their expectations that newly elected National Assembly deputies and People’s Council members will continue to promote Vietnam’s modernization.
Sputnik, China Central Television, Cuba’s Prensa Latina, and several Western news agencies also reported on the election, noting that the election saw innovations and improvements in its organization.
