At the Po Sah Inu tower in Lam Dong province, 9 communes with large Cham populations will be participating in Saranai clarinet performances, rice-pounding contests, water-carrying races, blindfolded pot-breaking games, and demonstrations of traditional Cham pottery making and brocade weaving. A special highlight will be the Cham culinary display area.

Mr. Tran Duc Dung, Head of the Po Sah Inu Tower Relic Management Board, said: “2025 marks the first Kate Festival held since the borders of Lam Dong province were redrawn. The main rituals and traditions of the Cham people have been maintained at the Po Sah Inu tower over the years. In addition, we’ve organized new special activities to attract visitors.”

In Phuoc Huu commune, Khanh Hoa province, 300 students, youth union members, and women’s association members have been rehearsing musical and dance performances for the festival. Ms. Nguyen Thuy Linh of Huu Duc hamlet said: In recent days, villagers have been cleaning up the local roads, and students have been rearranging their schedules so they can participate in the dance performances that are part of the ceremonial procession. Families are sprucing up their homes and making cakes and other Cham pastries.”

Meanwhile, the Bau Truc Cham Pottery Cooperative has inaugurated a new exhibition space. Director Phu Huu Minh Thuan said: "As we expect a large number of visitors, our exhibition area has been expanded for the Kate season. We’ve also hired guides to explain the pottery-making process and have organized performances of traditional Cham music.”

The annual Kate festival is an occasion for the Cham to express gratitude to their ancestors, honor their deities, and celebrate community solidarity. It’s a way to preserve and promote the unique Cham culture, enrich the cultural mosaic of Khanh Hoa and Lam Dong province, and boost tourism.
