Works on display introduce the landscape and people living in Vietnam’s border areas, as well as their daily lives, production activities, cultural festivals, and folk art of ethnic minority groups.

The photos also feature activities of border soldiers who stand ready to protect Vietnam’s sovereignty and security, along with cultural and trade exchanges of local people.

Among 21 award-wining photos, 2 were granted first prize: “Mong ethnic minority father and son raise the flag to welcome the lunar New Year” by Duong Tien Dung of Bac Giang province, and “Control station for national border protection and COVID-19 fighting” by Huynh Van Truyen of Da Nang city.

“The photos are loved by the public. They vividly capture the beauty of Vietnam’s landscape and the life of border soldiers,” said Photographer Tran Nhan Quyen, a lecturer at University of Theatre and Performing Arts of Hanoi and a member of the exhibition’s organizing board.

The exhibition acknowledges contributions and sacrifices of many generations of Vietnamese people for national defense, especially members of the armed forces.

“I’m very impressed with many of the photos. They feature a wide range of topics and give the audience a comprehensive description of national landscape and people. I really hope it will help improve people’s awareness of national border sovereignty,” said Do Thi Lan Anh, a visitor of Hanoi.

The exhibition also shows achievements of Vietnam’s renewal process.

“I admire the border soldiers’ strong spirit and hard training. They have worked hard to overcome hardships to ensure national border sovereignty, thus consolidating people’s trust in the Party and State. They have set bright examples of patriotism and selflessness for the younger generations to follow,” said visitor Hoang Thi Nhung.

The exhibition also aims to raise public awareness of border demarcation, management, and sovereignty.

It will also be organized in the provinces of Ninh Binh, Thua Thien-Hue, Gia Lai and Kien Giang, and Ho Chi Minh City.
